Sport Injury

What is Sports Injury?

Sports injuries refer to physical damage occurring during sports or physical activities. They can be broadly categorized into two types:

  • Acute Injuries: Caused by a single, sudden accidental event. Symptoms usually appear immediately, accompanied by severe pain, swelling, or inability to move. Examples include ankle sprains, muscle tears, and fractures.

  • Chronic / Overuse Injuries: Caused by long-term repetitive movements, where accumulated micro-trauma to tissues exceeds the body's natural ability to repair itself.

Phsyiotherapy Treatment & Rehabilitation Stages

Stage 1: Acute Phase

  • Treatment Goal: Control inflammation, alleviate pain, accelerate swelling reduction, and protect injured tissues from secondary damage.

Stage 2: Recovery Phase

  • Treatment Goal: Restore normal joint range of motion and basic muscle strength, promote proper tissue healing.

Stage 3: Functional Training Phase

  • Treatment Goal: Advanced strength training, proprioception and balance training, and analyzing and correcting faulty movement patterns to prevent recurrence.

Home Care & Prevention

  • Warm-up & Cool-down.

  • Progress Gradually: Avoid sudden, drastic increases in exercise intensity or frequency.

  • Cross-Training: To avoid overuse caused by a single sport and to ensure balanced development of different muscle groups.

When to Seek Professional Help?
